Project Objectives:

  1. To promote and conduct a community food and sundry drive to take to Slidell, Louisiana./files/Missions Photo Galleries/Katrina 2005/food-naz church_Resized_159x105.jpg
  2. To provide disaster relief to the people of Slidell, LA, by delivering food & sundry supplies to Slidell First Church of Nazarene.
  3. To assist in the mold evacuation of Slidell First Church due to flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina. 
  4. To assist the people of Slidell by working as clean-up crews in the surrounding community.

Project Highlights:

  1. Delivered a 2,800 cubic foot truck filled with food, water, clothing, Crisis Care Kits, toiletries, baby products, bleach and many other sundry items to the Food Bank at Slidell First Church of the Nazarene, provided by Westminster Church and the surrounding community.
  2. Delivered a U-Haul trailer filled with donated tools for exterior debris clean-up and interior mold spore evacuation.
  3. Completed the evacuation of Mold Spore contamination to the church building and remaining furniture items, by removing wallboard and carpeting from building and sterilizing walls and floor. (Slidell First Church of the Nazarene)
  4. Completed a majority of the storm debris clean-up on the church grounds
  5. Assisted with supplying items on the tables of the Food Bank
  6. Helped counsel people as they left the Food Bank
  7. Sent out an Emergency Medical Technician and two Clinical Counselor team members to assist the Heart-to-Heart Medical Team and to establish an Emergency Medical Clinic.
  8. Handed out over 150 Crisis Care Kits, Evangelism Explosion trax with the Slidell First Church of the Nazarene address, and Gideon New Testaments to the Slidell community.
  9. Completed clean-up of storm debris, by removing fallen trees and branches from (3) community people’s homes that were not capable of doing it for themselves
  10. Completed clean-up of storm debris from Pastor Charles and wife Bonnie’s home
  11. Evaluated hurricane damage to the buildings and surrounding areas of Long Beach First Church of the Nazarene (Mississippi) and New Orleans First Church of the Nazarene (Louisiana)
